We started the new year explosively – our portfolio company GoStudent, Vienna-based one-to-one video-based online tutoring, raised €300 million in Series D led by Prosus, giving the Company €3 billion post-money valuation. The round includes the participation from Deutsche Telekom, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Tencent, Dragoneer, Left Lane Capital and Coatue.
The funding came seven months after the Company became the first EdTech unicorn in Europe, raising €205 million in June 2021.
Felix Ohswald, Co-Founder and CEO of GoStudent said: “At GoStudent, our mission has stayed consistent since our founding: to unlock the potential of every student worldwide by enabling students to feel supported in their academic journey”.
The new capital will go towards GoStudent’s three central and strategic pillars: international expansion, product expansion through M&A, and increased market share in existing geographies. In 2021, the edtech tutoring platform expanded to 16 countries including Canada and Mexico and opened 19 international office locations. One of the goals for the new year is to further increase the team among employees and tutors. The monthly bookings of tutoring sessions grew 10 times: from 150,000 sessions booked per month in January 2021 to 1,500,000 by the end of the 2021.
